Deuteronomy 6:5-7 – Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
The passage above is the foundation for Godly parenting. It commands us to teach, lead and parent our children based on the guidance of God. As you can see this is not something that we do just on Sunday morning when most Christians are in church. And we don’t get extra credit if we also do it by going to church on Sunday nights and/or Wednesday nights. This is something we are instructed to do every day all day. It is a way of life. If we are honest with ourselves we will admit that it’s not always easy. Thankfully, there is help being made available to us all.
Randall House Publications is sponsoring a conference to help equip us, as parents, with the skills and help we need to carry out the instructions God gives us in Det. 6:5-7 (D6). This conference is going to be an incredible opportunity to make an impact not only in our family but in our community, our churches and our schools around us. Conference attendees will get the benefit of hearing from some key influential Christian leaders in our world today. Speakers such as George Barna, John Trent, Dave Ramsey, Jim Daly, Fred Stoeker, Darren Whitehead, Angela Thomas – and that is just half of the list. If you click on each person’s name it will take you to their website to learn more about them.
The conference will be held in Dallas, Texas September 23-25, 2009. You will want to mark your calendars IN PEN now. Then you will want to begin praying for the Lord to clear the path for you and spouse to attend. It will be a life changing week for your family.
You can visit the conference website (D6family.com) to learn more about it as well as watch videos of people who are striving and desiring to have a family committed to Christ. Isn’t that what we all want anyway?
Hope to see you in Dallas next September!
