The Lazy Weekend

This past weekend I got to tag along with Ron on a business trip to Phoenix. It was so relaxing. We stayed at the Hilton Squaw Peak Resort.Check that link for some pictures more incredible than I could take!

The resort was incredible. Ron is a Hiltons Honors club member and he had some free nights built up so we used them to relax in a place pretty close to Heaven. The weather was amazing! It was in the upper 70s with the humidity at 10%. I didn’t know places like that existed. I laid out every day and never sweated a single drop.

This was the view from one chair at one of the pools. The resort had a water park as well. There were pools everywhere. The sky was that gorgeous blue every day. We drove around and saw some of the city. There are hills and mountains everywhere. However, they are the most unusually hills/mountains I have ever seen.

They were all rocks, dirt and cactus. I’m used to seeing hills/mountains of trees and green. No green here! It is all brown because they are in the desert.

Squaw Peak right behind the resort. This was taken from a bridge crossing over the lazy river in the water park. The lazy river was probably my favorite thing. It was so relaxing.

The weekend was just awesome. And to be honest I felt better than I have felt in AGES! With humidity that low my fibro was non-existent. I had NO PAIN at all! And I had NO HEADACHE!! It was such an incredible relief. Now that I’m back in Nashville my pain has slowly ramped back up. And two hours after we got home yesterday my headache was back. I’m gonna need Randall House to move it’s headquarters to Phoenix. I’ve decided it!

Here are a few more pictures:

My view one time I was laying out.

The cactus were as big as trees!!

One of the beautiful pools!

I’ve decided that if you have Fibromyalgia then Phoenix is the place to be! I think I’ll start packing now just in case…..

The Most Beautiful Skies

Yes, I am finally getting back to update. Ron and I left Thursday for our TX excursion. Our first stop was in Dallas for Ron to go to some of his PhD classes at DBU (Dallas Baptist University). I pretty much just hung out in the hotel room and looked at this:

I had the best end of the deal – clearly!

Today we moved to Frisco to settle in for the D6 Conference.

See - told you we were in Frisco!

Here are some pictures of our awesome room at the Frisco Embassy Suites – where the D6 Conference meets each September.

Our awesome view from our balcony!

I am convinced Frisco has the most beautiful skies!

That’s just a few shots of the first part of our trip. Tomorrow things really start picking up. I love this week of the year.

In A Word…..I Have Returned

This is my first entry after my vacation. I’m just glad to be back to the computer after an entire week+ off. I hope that you all have enjoyed the pictures I have posted from my cell phone each day.

Saturday was a very hard day on my Fibro-wracked body. We went to Six Flags. I started going downhill on Friday actually. So Saturday morning I stayed in bed for a couple of extra hours. Ron and the kids went on to the park. Ron picked me up at lunch time. I was feeling much better by the. After about 10 minutes in the park I realized that things were not going to go well for me. All the energy that I saved up in those extra couple of hours in bed were depleted after we were there for about 10 minutes when my right foot, that had surgery 15 months ago, began acting up. So, two and two together – cold, rain and lots of walking – I knew I wasn’t gonna be able to stand in those lines. Ron and the kids were there for 7 hours and only rode 4 rides. That’s how long the lines were. I decided to be proactive as best as I could because I knew that yesterday was going to be a LONG day to get back home. I went back to the front of park and found a bench under an awning out of the rain and there I sat for 3 hours. It was 53 degrees and raining – my foot was swollen up to where I had NO ankle. I bought a Six Flags sweatshirt. I looked for one that I said “I had a crappy day at Six Flags” but they must have been all sold out of those. So, I bought a different one. Two hours later I had gone back into the gift shop to buy a blanket and a pair of sweats. But Ron and the kids showed up then. I was way beyond ready to go. I had been so excited to go to Six Flags and ride roller coasters with my family. We all love thrill rides. I know I’m crazy. But I love the thrill. There were no rides for me.Then we had a 1 1/2 hour drive to our next hotel (closer to the airport and the church Ron was speaking at yesterday morning).

I collapsed in bed when we finally got there. I was worried sick about the flights and airports in store for me to get back home the next day (yesterday). That is another entry entirely. But I do want to say that my week was great. Saturday was the worst day I had. If my foot had no acted up and the rain had not hit I think I would have had a great time. But that’s just not how it worked out. But my Fibro was very well controlled all week long. We did a lot of driving and a lot of walking/site seeing. I was very surprised at how well I did especially considering that I wasn’t able to fly out with the family as originally planned the previous Friday. I hope you can see from the pictures that we all had a really great time.

I tried to keep you, my readers and tweeps, up to date like you were on the vacation with me by sending regular pictures/tweets. I didn’t hear from a lot of you. But some of you went along on the trip with me. I hope that you enjoyed it. I really loved taking all the pictures. There are so many others that didn’t make it here or on twitter. I will post a few here and there in the next couple of weeks.

It feels so good to be back here. I have really missed blogging. If I tweeted it once I tweeted it a million times…..I miss you all! But I am now back. I have had a day of recovery today and will be back in soccermom mode tomorrow. And I will be back on a regular blogging schedule as well. I missed linking up with all of my regular memes. Hope you’re ready to return here and read again because I am BACK!!!!!!

Today was far from my best day. We did go to Six Flags and I have been looking forward to riding the roller coasters all week. However, my body had other plans completely opposite of my brain. The word miserable instantly comes to mind. I spent the morning back at the hotel resting. Ron came and got me at lunch time and I joined them. Instead of riding roller coasters I spent the day sitting on a bench like Forrest Gump with a swollen foot freezing to death.

Tomorrow we go home after Ron preaches at a local church. We leave here at 2:00 LA time and arrive in Nashville at 10:10 p.m. I am not looking forward to it. Plane rides are so hard on a fibro body. I’m keeping my eye on the prize – getting home to Faith and chillin’ alone w/her next week catching up on TV and computer time. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Almost…..there!

Finding The Happy

I came across a great new challenge for Monday’s – which really won’t be much of a challenge.  It is Finding The Happy.  Each Monday I will be sharing a picture or video of something that makes me happy.  I have an incredible family, both far and near.  So, this won’t really be much of a challenge.  I mean, think about it, there are things all around us that can/should make us happy.  Continue reading

Daddy, Mama, Michael & Lauren Having Fun In The Caribbean

Here are a few pictures with each of us actually during the week.  We were having fun as you will see.  I have an amazing family!!!

Sorry there are so many.  I promised I wouldn’t share all 1000 pictures.  But these were so good – showing all of us having fun without a care in the world. I LOVE THAT!!!
