Lists and Blessings

Since I was completely out of it for the last two days I thought I would combine my Multitudes on Monday (One Thousand Gifts) list with my Top Ten Tuesday entry from yesterday. So here are 10 things that I am thankful for this week!

11. Ambien! After being without it for 2 nights in a row I realize how much it truly helps me.

12. The visit with my parents this weekend. They came down for Mother’s Day weekend. We didn’t get to do everything I had on the list to do. But it was so wonderful to be with my mom for the first time in 17 years on Mother’s Day.

13. My dad’s healing. After 18 months of unsurety if he was gonna live or die I will be forever grateful for the Lord’s healing touch on his body. Cancer doesn’t always win. Sometimes Cancer Is A Loser! In my dad’s case cancer is a loser.

14. My new mother’s day gift – an HD Digital Camera. It is amazing and the pictures are incredible. It’s gonna add so much to our computer collection of family pictures!

15. The success my children are having in school. After the school roller coaster we have been on for the last 12 years we are so thankful that they are finishing up at a school that is improving every day. Lauren received an award this past week for getting the highest grade in one of her classes. The story of why we are thankful for that is a long one. So let’s just suffice it to say we were not expecting it and it was a wonderful surprise.

16. This blog! I have a lot of themes that I write about. I don’t always focus on the same thing. I enjoy the variety. I enjoy hearing from my readers. God has blessed me by giving me a sounding board and new friends to discuss matters with.

17. The glory of spring! I got new flowers over the weekend. They are so beautiful. The brilliant sunshine this week has brought out their color so perfectly. Warm weather is a wonderful blessing after such a cold and snowy winter.

18. The financial provision God has blessed us with for the kids’ to have such a full and exciting summer. The summers in our house have never been days when the kids have had a chance to sit around and complain about being bored. We have made sure that the summer activities they have done have been events where their lives have been enriched spiritually. God has provided for all of that. We are excited about summer around here.

19. The laughter of my children. We don’t always hear it every day but it is such a blessing when we do.

20. How special Ron and the kids made Mother’s Day for me. It was a day full of family and blessings. God is good!

Indulging My Hobby

I love to read! Because I have a chronic illness that keeps me down most of the time I have plenty of time to indulge in my hobby. As you know I have set a goal for myself to read 30 books in 2011. I’m doing really well with that goal right now. I have a tab above titled On My Nightstand that lists the books I’ve read, recommend and still want to read. I would love any book suggestions you might have as well.

So, while thinking through my Top Ten Tuesday list I thought I would share titles (with links) for my favorite books that were either very entertaining, taught me something about myself or challenged my spirit.

1. This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti

2. Get Out Of That Pit by Beth Moore

3. So Long Insecurity by Beth Boore

4. Breaking Free by Beth Moore

5. Renewal on the Run by Jill Briscoe

6. The Pact by Jodi Picoult

7. Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult

8. Angel Falls by Kristin Hannah

9. God Came Near by Max Lucado

10. His Imprint, My Expression by Kay Arthur

As I go to link this up to Amanda’s blog for Top Ten Tuesday I would love for you to share some of your titles that you can highly recommend enough. If you have a top ten list of anything come on over to Amanda’s place and share it too.

The Greatest Top Ten

My Top Ten Tuesday entry today is a little late today. I’ve been sleeping a lot today. This sleeping all day thing is killing me. I feel like a baby who has her days and nights mixed up. But I’ve known all day what I wanted to share for TTT. I just needed some energy to work on it. I mentioned earlier that I wanted to share some of the great new blogs I discovered during the Ultimate Blog Party last week. So, I’m gonna share a little bit about the blog owner and her blog. But I can guarantee you that if they make it into this list and to my blog sidebar then they are good. And there will be even more that I haven’t even gotten to yet. So more to come!

1. Mending Hope – This is Hope’s blog where she shares her heart along with support and encouragement for those seeking hope for their wounded spirit.

2. Momma Kristi – Her blog is full of things that she learns and shares from her Bible studies. And she is participating in a wonderful hop of praying for her boys for 21 days TEN TIMES A DAY! What a challenge and what a blessing.

3. Vanderbilt Wife – Jessie is a fellow TN blogger who used to live in my beautiful city. Let me tell you if you want some good recipes then Jessie’s blog is the one to hit up. Yummmmmm

4. I’m A Lazy Mom – This is Stacey’s blog and I have to say she is hilarious!! I have my funny moments but I’m gonna be visiting her for inspiration from now on. If you need a laugh then you need to meet the Lazy Mom and their Lazy fam.

5. Twenty 6 – This blog is written by two friends who don’t even live near each other. That alone draws me to it. And they have an awesome etsy shop with adorable goodies.

6. Sweet Jeanette – For some reason I was super drawn to foodie blogs during the party last week. Jeanette has a yummy blog too. Recipes and pictures to make me drool. But she adds some stories in with her recipes. Now that is a fun read!

7. Life of a Home Mom – Elizabeth’s blog is full of everything – contests, weight loss, kids – in general – LIFE! What you probably deal with in your home every day.

8. The Cupcake Sprinkles In Life – Rachel’s blog is about family togetherness and outreach. If you wanna do things that bring your family closer to one another her blog will give you ideas on how to do that.

9. The Journey – Stephanie has a wonderful blog. She is a mother who battles MS with one child with Asperger’s. Yet the sweet grace of her entries are a blessing.

10. Oh Amanda – And of course the host of Top Ten Tuesday was a sweet surprise. She’s a reader, she loves reality TV and she has a MAC! Oh my word – SHE IS ME!!!!!

There you have them! My Top Ten list for this week. Checking out those blogs should keep you busy till next week’s list. And of course jumping over to Amanda’s blog and read the other links for Top Ten Tuesday.

Top Ten Twitter Favorites

While visiting Amanda’s blog – Oh Amanda – last night I got an idea about what to post for my Top Ten Tuesday entry today. She is the host of the hop. The whole time I was there reading her UBP post I kept thinking “why does this blog look so familiar? I feel like I’ve been here before but I don’t remember when”. Then I remembered how I got there to read her party post. I clicked on the Top Ten Tuesday button ON MY OWN BLOG THREE MINUTES BEFORE THAT. Yesterday was not my best day, ok! And I never claimed to be the sharpest knife in the drawer or the brightest crayon in the box. Honesty, people, life is all about honesty. And I was just completely honest about my moment of ignorance.

Now, on with the purpose of this entry…..my Top Ten Tuesday entry. I have been wanting to share this for a long time but because I am so brilliant I have forgotten it almost as soon as I thought about it. I know that is shocking to you. I better get on with it before I forget what I’m writing about.

If you are on Twitter you are no doubt familiar with the Favorite feature. If you read a tweet that you like you can mark it as a favorite. I happen to have 48 favorites. Now not all of those are these brilliant quotes or are even particularly interesting. Some of them are merely links to places others have posted that I don’t want to forget (seems to be a theme in this entry – HMPH!). But today I thought I would share 10 of the especially thought provoking ones. I will link to the Twitter follower who wrote it in case you would like to check them out. Ready? Here we go!

I hope you enjoyed some of my favorites! Maybe you will consider sharing yours so we can all benefit from the people who make us happy. I have some of the best followers/followees. But I’m happy to share them with you.
Surely you have a list of 10 things rattling around in your head. If you shake real hard you can shake them loose by typing them out and posting them on your blog. Then you might as well click over to Amanda’s blog and link them up for Top Ten Tuesday with me. Might as well….what else are you gonna do with them?

In A Word….Handbags (for Top Ten Tuesday)

This is my first Top Ten Tuesday entry. I’ve been thinking through what to share as my introductory post to give all the Top Ten Tuesday readers an idea of who I am and what I love. And I also joined Pinterest this morning. The first thing I wanted to share there was a board of PURSES! So I thought the best thing to share for TTT to show who I am to the world is my Top Ten purses that I want – but will probably never have because they are too stinkin’ expensive. I may just share a different favorite brand of mine each week for oh……. the next 52 weeks. I won’t do that but that’s how much I am in love with purses. We have a limited budget since I am a SAHM with a chronic illness ($$$$) with two teenagers ($$$$) who are 17 1/2 months away from both going to college at the same time ($$$$). So, the way my sweet hubs and I have worked it out for me to get a REAL designer purse is that I use our budgeted Christmas amount for me each year on a purse. That still limits what I can get because some of the bags that I especially love are still out of our price range which is usually in the neighborhood of $300-$400. But it gets close and I get that thrilling feeling of carrying a REAL beautiful bag on my arm. Some may call me shallow but I don’t care. It’s my present and it’s what I love. Isn’t that what giving gifts is all about? Besides, I’ve been called much worse. Shallow is nothin’!

Ok – on with the gorgeous bags!

1. The Artsy GM is just a mere $1,860. That’s about 6 Christmases worth of budget. But it has a large interior which is what I love, need and want!

Ahhhhhhh - this calms me just looking at it..........

2. Of  course for spring and summer I would love to have the Multi-colored Speedy. I mean, who wouldn’t want it! And at the bargain price of $2,520.

3. Now for a few Coach bags. Coach bags are so sophisticated looking. One particular bag that I’ve been wanting is a patent leather bag. This one would also be for spring/summer. And it is considerably less expensive than the LV bags. This is the Patent Leather Holly for $798. That’s just 2 1/2 Christmases. Not bad.

So beautiful! And so classy looking!

4. I must admit that I am seriously addicted to the color black. When Lauren and I go shopping together she all but grabs the black clothes from my hands and runs away to hide them. But I LOVE black! This next bag comes in 3 colors but of course my favorite one is the black one. It is the Coach Kristin Elevated Leather Tote and rings up at a mere $698. I can feel it on my arm already.

It would hold all of my junk beautifully!

5. Kate Spade has always been one of my favorite handbag designers. While I have never owned one of her bags I love her vintage bags the best. It’s so hard to find a vintage bag though. However, this bag caught my eye because it has a pattern. I’m all about having a bag that stands out and draws in the eye. This is the Houndstooth Nylon Stevie and is definitely in the Christmas budget price range. It rolls up to the register at $285. DOABLE!!

This bag says "SEE ME!"

6. This next Kate Spade bag is very close to the bags I loved as a teenager/college student. And it just so happens to be so cute! Perfect spring/summer bag. It is also affordable with the Christmas budget at $295. Hmmmmmm Very nice…..

This bag says "I'm super cute" - clearly I need it!

7. Burberry is another brand that I’ve always wanted to own but never have had the pleasure! They have many different patterns now. But I’ve always loved the original with the checked print. So, I am all over this bag! The Burberry Belted Check Print Hobo at just $950. Yummmmm

Ready for a Polo match, darlin'!

8. I must admit that I have been wanting a RED bag for a couple of years. My girlfriend has one (different brand) and the first time I spotted it I knew I had to have a red one. Oh my word! It is so beautiful. And it’s loud and attention getting – just like me. This Burberry bag would totally get attention! It’s the Burberry Belted Leather Satchel and rings up at a reasonable $1,495.

Doesn't this just scream "HOT"???

9. And one of my favorite brands also happen to be one of the easiest brands to find – Dooney & Bourke! They have so many varieties and styles. My favorite bag at the moment is one of their giraffe prints. It’s actually the one I am gonna take on our trip to CA with me. Right now I am in love with the whole patent leather look. So one of the bags that I would love to carry on my arm is in the Venus style. It is the Large East/West bag. D & B bags are most of the time right in the Christmas budge price range. This one is $248. I may just ask for this one this year. LOVE IT!

This will be on my arm soon!

10. And last but not least we have a bag that I do know is a duffle! However, that doesn’t matter to me. I would totally use it as a purse! It is the Extra Large Juliette for $345. This is a very very real possibility. I would love this bag forever and treat it like a baby with lots of love and gentleness. And YES notice the color. I’m serious about this red thing!

This is a YES!

So there you have it! My first Top Ten Tuesday entry. And I totally loved it. I tried posting the links with the pictures. I sure hope that worked because my head is now killing me and I would hate having to go back and redo all the linking. I’ll just cross my fingers on that one. But I know I’m getting the link right for the TTT site. Go check it out. I’m sure there are other entries by people who are NOT obsessed with handbags. You might find some good stuff. Better yet – just join us and add your own Top Ten entry!

ENJOY!
